As we all know, Aaliyah is a big inspiration to Drake. One thing that I bet we didn’t all catch is his Aaliyah reference in “Bed Rock“. Drake says “Girl I gotta watch my back, cause I’m not just anybody” but in Aaliyah’s “Are You That Somebody” produced by Timbaland, she says “Boy I gotta watch my back, cause I’m not just anybody” in the hook. My boys over at MITC pointed it out and I think it’s a cool “Did You know” fact because it was one of Drake’s catchy bars in Bed Rock. He flipped it very well; what do you think?

RIP Aaliyah.

In this day and time, I assume you all downloaded Drake’s 2nd mixtape “Comeback Season“. Did you know that Drake’s “Think Good Thoughts” ft. Phonte was sampled from Anita Baker’s Sweet Love? This is how it sounded before 9th Wonder flipped the sample. Take a listen below.

Here’s a new segment that I’m bringing to ATF. It’s called “Did You Know?” and I will be posting samples Drake used in some of his songs and/or beats he rapped over (original songs) etc. This is simply to show you guys where Drake, Boi-1da, 40, D10, and the crew get their inspiration from.

I’m going to start this one with Gonzales – The Tourist. It’s the song ~~40 plays on the piano~~ in the So Far Gone Mixtape outro. This is Track #11 from Gonzales’ 2004 album “Solo Piano“.
