Man, if 0-9 is when I’ma see mine, being cool ain’t enough homie, I’ma freeze time like-that.

Drake had an amazing year. He dominated the music scene and surpassed all the other new comers. I decided to briefly summarize his past 12 months to showcase his growth. I might of left out a few things here and there but I think I displayed all the important highlights. Drake is currently recording his debut Thank Me Later album and it is set to release March 2010. We are all excited for its outcome. Anyways, I will keep this introduction short and you can check out my amazing Drake timeline, lol. Congrats on all your success Drake; we are all proud of you. “What’s your life like? This is how mines feel.

January
2009 started with Drake being on tour with Lil Wayne & Young Money. As you can see below, he was and has always been the quiet one.

He then shot a music video for I’m Still fly with Page. He performed at the ACC for the 1st time with Lil Wayne (t’was history!) and two songs dropped (Unstoppable x Every Girl). Everything was about to change…

February
Now, February was the month. So Far Gone was due so he teased us with mixtape samplers.

And then…. *drumroll* on February 13 2009, the anticipated So Far Gone mixtape dropped fashionably late as 40 would say. Shortly after So Far Gone dropped, Drake x Young Money shot a video for Every Girl. We celebrated and “Congratulations” was added as a bonus So Far Gone song. We all know Drake loves Houston, so he decided to chop x screw it. The month ended with a few interviews here and there oh, and here.

March
Drake co-starred in Chrisette Michele’s Epiphany music video, an LRG ad, we marked our 2 year anniversary (yaaay) and Drake performed Live at MTV Spring Break 2009 Panama City with Young Money!

The month ended with Jimmy Valentino and a Trey Songz video cameo.

April
Drake hits mainstream… word to Jessica (my ex-co-blogger). He covers Peace Magazine. Every Girl music video drops. Drake shutsdownNew York. Thennnn, the So Far Gone tour kicks off and SUNY is the 1st stop. Remember when the fans knew songs word-for-word? It was easily a month after So Far Gone dropped.

Anyways, Drake then performed and performed and performed. Shortly after his NY takeover, his infamous Hot97 freestyle occurred. Can I do that? Can I do that? Can I do…-that?

Drake chops it up with Joe Budden and then records in the studio with Just Blaze. Two JBs…

May
Drake’s Atlanta show is sold out. I’m Still Fly video drops. Invasion Radio interview… DJ Semtex interview… Drake in Houston… Drake’s Homecoming show by Serious Entertainment (over 2300 people attended)… Drake climbs the Billboard charts…

Drake and Rihanna are supposedly dating but-uhhhhhhhh. BUT, he clears up the rumor. Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Drake go in, pause + SOBs gets the official Canadian shut down.

June
Drake flies to London, England to drink a cup of tea & munch on biscuits with DJ Semtex. Are there any DJs reading this? Please go download So Far 8 Bar’d, thanks. Mary J. Blige collabs with Drake & releases The One. Trey Songz and Drake make it clear that they invited sex (separately, no pause). Then, Drake hits up New York City again to perform at the 2009 Summer Jam.

June isn’t done yet… Drake performs with Jamie Foxx on the Conan O’Brien show and later shoots his video for Best I Ever Had. He gets ready to “sign” a deal… and does it again. While that’s happening, Drake does his debut red carpet appearance at the MMVAs. Nice way to end the month no?

July
Drake plans to work with Lil Wayne for the rest of his career… Buzz is building around his Best I Ever Had music video and there you have it; directed by Kanye West. Dear lord… ( • )( • ) everywhere.

Remember when Drake pulled his ACL in June? Well he couldn’t perform so he sat down during his BET performance and had to explain himself. On July 9th, I celebrated my 17th birthday with Day26… and Drake decided to surprise me with Trey Songz (who kissed my cheek by the way) #shamelessplug.

Drake gives some dating advice and LA Times throw in their 2 cents. Drake tells Fabolous that he’s up in Barney’s going dumb again, then the AMW Tour kicks off in Scranton, PA.

August
On August 1st, Drake tore his ACLagain. :( What a bummer. He still makes it to Mary J Blige’s videoshoot the next day. COMPLEX gives us a play-by-play the night of the fall and Drake surprises Toronto with an unexpected performance! He gets nominated & featured & shoots a video for Successful. “and Sylvia be tellin Tez “damn Drake fly” and he just be like “silly mother fucker i know”“. Drake gets a BP3 feature and his video for “Digital Girl” drops!

Drake visits Westcoast killer, Nipsey Hussle. BLRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR daddy, one hunit, junya, plaeboi, YMCMB. Whatever you about to discover we off that but I want this shit forever mane. I’m The One.

billboard-bieh

This is how it ends…

September
So we have Drake’s 1st 106 & Park appearance with Trey Songz… Drake said that: “It’s funny how money can change everything…” and he hits the surgery room. He then got GQ‘d out which obviously means that the surgery was a success! His So Far Gone EP hits the shelves. Young Money covers The Source magazine. Drake is up for 5 BET Hip Hop Awards (and it only gets better). Kia Shines decides to lie and say he owns 25% of NOTHING…sucka n*gga. Forever’s music video is out. Fiyah!

Drake’s So Far Gone EP sells 72,104 units 1st week. That’s great, considering the fact that it was a free mixtape, 8 months ago no? With that said, Drake (and YM) can make your Bed Rock. Do you have money? Well, Drake, Birdman and Lil Wayne do. Peep below, low low, blow0o0-ow0ow0oow.

3 words: Shut It Down.

October
October’s Very Own.. Young Angel.. Drizzy.. he collabs with Diddy. Whoa…hold up, 7 Grammy Initial Ballot Entries? Go Drake! #3 hottest MC in zee game? Go Drake! Rookie of the year? Go Drake! Shut It Down part 2 gets confirmed? Yes! Timbo gets a hold of Drake? That’s great. “HE STANDS!“! That was a great sight wasn’t it? So we continue with 3 Soul Train Awards nominations. Drake then turns 23 and I put together a little fan video for the kid! He loved it.

Drake celebrates his Jordan/Lebron year in Toronto. DJ Khaled is fed up and so is Drake. Jay-Z becomes Drake’s hypeman for a bit. Wait, hypeman? Jay-Z rarely does that for anyone. Jeeeez Hov.

November
Amazing leaks. Drake is a gangsta killer with his two ninjas, Wale x Kid Cudi and he spills the beans about Thank Me Later. Gangstas don’t do that… I’m playing. November 18th? It was then 1 year after Drake met Lil Wayne. Young Money shoots a music video for Bed Rock. Drake is once again, GQ‘d up, fo’real and hits up Nashville to converse, not conversate. Oh and yessss, it’s still a best-seller. A dream come true… he is now presenting at award shows & shit; no big deal lol.

Dappered up, Drake is titled the sexiest international rapper. Timbaland teases us with great teasers for his Say Something music video. Drake’s brown eyes are glamourous. The ladies go craaaaaazy for Drake x Kid Cudi in Toronto. At this point, Drizzy is pretty much the shit. Sorry.

December
Last month of the year. Last month to really out-do the rest. Last month, and Drake covers VIBE‘s relaunch cover. “So pricele$$, Life so Pricele$$ nigga, you understand me, It’s just like that, my car so Pricele$$, my bitch so Pricele$$, my familia is so Pricele$$ Nigga, you understand me? Either you with us, or you ain’t with us…” Ok ok Birdman, we get it. It’s YMCMB for life daddy! LOL

Drake joins the Grammy Family with not one, but TWO nominees. Will he win ‘em all? Let’s wait and see on January 31st 2010. I think this part right here deserves a bit of audio… I mean, it’s only right.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

And some visuals

Okay, back to regular scheduling. So the Fed Up music video drops. I still don’t get the ending and why Khaled performed his own stunts lol. Can anyone say Grammmmyyyyyyyy? Yeah? Cool. Drake can say he wrote a song for Alicia Keys. 40 can say he produced it. Timbo is still teasing. Drake is shutting shit down at the mall, in the hood, in Crenshaw. Young Money ends the year solid by releasing a video for their smash hit, Bed Rock.

Kid Cudi and Drake go on a pursuit of happiness. Champagne everywhere. Bitches Women everywhere. It’s getting crazy. Addicted to the lavish life = more champagne with Timbo.

Drake wants Hov on a TML song. Drake wins 2 Billboard awards. Hold on. Mixtape of the year? Damn, he just walked in here, looking like the muthaf’n man of the year. :) ICM signs Drizzy. They’ll rep him in all phases of his career. Drake drops 3 new verses for We Are Young Money (available in stores now). Remember we said Drake started the year off strong? Well, MTV thought so too. Mo’Nique invites Young Money on her show for their album promo. Drake is NY Times’ #1 Pop-ular artist. He’s the Jew of the year. L’Chaim! And that’s pretty much it for 2009. It’s Been A Pleasure witnessing all of this in 365 days. Myspace spices up that mood by honoring Drake as Best New Artist; and guess what? Drake gets the Hov collabo he wanted. #ThankMeLater coming soon. Who is ready for 2010? Who’s ready for Thank Me Later’s new single? Oops, I said that too soon.

We’re documenting what Drake is becoming. Happy New Year everyone!

2009 had been an amazing year for Drake and you can tell just by looking at this “Wrap Up”. His success is only gonna get bigger and bigger as the years go by. Like I said, 2010 is THE YEAR OF DRAKE or DRAKE’S YEAR (either way, lol).

“It’s Been a Pleasure” listening to his music and watching him grow as an individual and an artist. I’m proud to say that I’m a fan.

as Jae Millz would say, “LEEGOOO!” :)
