*. Don’t Quit Your Day Job: Drake
November 13th, 2009 | Published in Audio, Interview | 15 Comments

It’s always great to hear artists before they blow up. If you been following Drake on ATF since March 2007, then you can see how much he grew as an artist and the positive progress he sustained.
Before becoming the third hottest MC in the game, Drake was just a rapper from Toronto/Memphis. Looking for his big break, in 2007 he called Angela Yee’s “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” segment on Shade 45. In hindsight, the audio is funny as it is surreal. Listen as callers critique his music and compare him to Bow Wow. Look who has the last laugh, now :).

lmffao. tht dude (I think his name is “Emoticon”?) had me laughing soo harrrd. “Fxxking Drake!” LOLL. Those comments on the show (aside from the Bow Wow comment, >_>) basically foreshadowed the present-day masses opinion.
I love it.

Wow! He’s always been on his hustle! I’ve never heard this interview before. None of this success is going to ever sink in for me. I’m always being surprised at all the things coming his way. It does seem surreal.

yea man. i remember first gettin Room for Improvement- that rite had me feelin like i could make it in the music if drake could do it cuz that was my style. but that Comeback Season – Damn! it had me goin back to my journal and rewritin what i thought was hot, lol. that was my soundtrack and still is. So Far Gone just help me grow more as a better person and analyze the idea of the Man that i plan to be someday. its just an honor to say that i was one of the first to download it. that felt good as hell. that was the only CD that i played on repeat for 2 months straight. i was with my ex at that time and she got on my last nerve. so when ever she would get to runnin at the jibbs, i would just sing under my breathe “leave me/leave me/i can’t fuckin stand you/wish i had the courage to say everything i planned to..” lol
great memories
